Change It wasn’t trendy , funny, nor was it coined on Twitter , but we thought change told a real story about how our users defined Unlike in , change was no longer a campaign slogan. Share this article Share ‘Anything that opens up more opportunities for drivers, as the Uber app did three years ago, is great for riders and great for cities,’ said spokesman Matt Wing. A number of yellow cab drivers were lured to Uber because of the freedom the company supposedly offers with the ability for drivers to pick and choose when they want to work. However, often they are locked into multi-year contracts, making it very difficult to make a move.
This new program will allow drivers to pick and choose. Its name comes from the Achetes River in Sicily, where Agates were first found. Usually banded in layers, or stripes, some varieties have “eye” markings, or specks of color, some have fossilized inclusions, and others are solid. Called the earth rainbow, the concentric bands of Agate form in nearly every color the earth can produce, including a colorless form. Historically, Agate has been discovered with the artifacts of Neolithic people, and was used as healing amulets and ornamentation dating back to Babylon.
Its medicinal uses continued through the ancient Greek and Egyptian civilizations, and spread throughout Africa and the Middle East into Russia. Agate sparked a world renowned stonecutting and polishing industry in Germany that flourished from the 15th to the 19th century, and exists today. Metaphysically, Agate has a lower intensity and vibrates to a slower frequency than other stones, but is highly regarded as a stabilizing and strengthening influence.
The layered bands of microscopic quartz in Agate may appear delicate, they are actually very strong.

Do you know Stokesay Court, a wonderful old mansion which lies in glorious grounds. It was taken over as a military hospital in WW1 and my Dad recuperated there from awful injuries on The Somme. The owners by the turn of the century were experiencing financial difficulty in maintaining the place, understandably, until a film company came looking for a stately home for an epic movie and Stokesay Court was chosen — so “Atonement” has to all intents and purposes saved the beautiful old place.

Earlier in the day, we were sitting in a dingy law office, signing a towering stack of legal documents, before handing over a very, very big check. I felt a little dizzy when the lawyer gave us the keys. We were the proud owners of a square-foot, one-bedroom apartment in Park Slope, Brooklyn. How the hell did we get here? Advertisement Well, PBR had something to do with it.
And, peanut butter sandwiches.

I promise the tables will still be there after you finish reading. We also received a report of a tweed 5G12 Concert. The 5G12 Concert is the earliest version from very late and early so the existence of a tweed example, while extremely rare, is certainly plausible since Fender was making lots of tweed amps during the same time period. Working at FMI — I was able to interview a fellow who wishes to remain anonymous who worked at Fender in in the amp department.
Although his job was somewhat limited, his recollections provided some really fascinating insights to how the amps were built.

Applied 24 July Worsdell used this meeting, his second as President, to air his personal views on superheating, which in later years he may have regretted. Aided and sometimes pushed by his chief draughtsman Walter Smith , and a friend of Churchward, Wilson Worsdell presided over a lively period of North Eastern Railway locomotive history. He followed his brother to the Pennsylvania Railroad, becoming a pupil at the Altoona Works; and back again to England.
He succeeded his brother as Locomotive Superintendent in , and until he retired in Loco. Among them were his big fast types, his Atlantics, and his mineral engines. At the November meeting of ARLE as edited Hughes Worsdell noted that the Americans had gone in strongly for compounds, but were now giving them up this was in response to enthusiasm for developments in France as expressed by Johnson and by Churchward He rode on the footplate of the celebrated Black Diamond express, and although travelling faster than 80 miles an hour, the engine ran so smoothly that he could have held a cup of water in his hand without spilling any.
The American tracks were much preferable to the system adopted in Great Britain of using chairs to keep the rails in position. With the American roads there is less wear and tear on the locomotives, consequently they would be longer out of the shops between repairs.

While weather in the region can vary, Baltimore does not experience the extremes of weather change that occur further north and inland. Visitors will be able to venture outdoors without a jacket from approximately mid-March to late November. The hot humid summers invite the wearing of shorts on many days. The Baltimore area experiences pleasant fall foliage, usually beginning in mid October and ending in early December.
The long warm weather season means that swimming pools are very popular for much of the year as well. Film[ edit ] Baltimore boasts a surprisingly influential, albeit small-scale, film industry. Self-dubbed the “grandfather of filth” native John Waters is the Baltimore equivalent of New York’s Woody Allen—he has directed movie after movie, set and filmed on location in Baltimore, drawing heavily for inspiration from Baltimore’s most bizarre subcultures and its strangest neighborhoods. He became famous for his “gore” flicks in the s, which combine the single-minded purpose of grossing-out or perhaps scarring-for-life the viewers along with intensely bad acting, outrageous Baltimore accents, subversive humor, general trashy perversion and violence, and one enormous Baltimore drag queen named Divine.
